Harley-Davidson motorcycles
Harley-Davidson Motor Company is an American manufacturer of motorcycles based in Milwaukee, Wisc. In 1900, 21-year old William S. Harley completed a blueprint drawing of an engine designed to fit into a bicycle. Three years later, the first Harley-Davidson motorcycles were made available to the public.
The company sells heavyweight (over 750 cc) motorcycles designed for cruising on the highway. Harley's have a distinctive design and exhaust note. They are especially noted for the tradition of heavy customization that gave rise to the chopper-style of motorcycle.
Harley-Davidson attracts a loyal brand community with licensing of the Harley-Davidson logo accounting for almost five percent of the company's net revenue. Harley-Davidson supplies many American police forces with their motorcycle fleets.
Some of the more popular models include the Sportster, the Dyna, the Softail, and the Revolution.
Harley-Davidson opened an all-new museum in Milwaukee in 2008.
